Yoichi Shimada

Senior Counsel, Member of Tokyo Daini Bar Association

Admitted to the bar in 2006, he taught labor law at Waseda University School of Law from April 1996 to March 2023, and has experience in labor practice in legal clinic classes since the establishment of Waseda University School of Law in 2004. He has served as a representative director of the Japan Association of Labor Law, a director of the Japan Industrial Relations Association, and a director of the Japan Labor Relations Association. He has also been deeply involved in university administration at Waseda University, serving as Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Campus Planning, and Executive Director and Vice President. He has also served as a member of the Judicial Examination Review Committee of the Ministry of Justice, an expert member of the Regulatory Reform Council of the Cabinet Office, and a member of the Consumer Affairs Agency’s “Study Group on Improving the Effectiveness of the Whistleblower Protection System”. He is also currently a member of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s “Study Group on Reform of Work Styles of Doctors,” a member of the External Evaluation Committee of the Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training, and a member of the Steering Committee for Training on Individual Labor Dispute Resolution.
